MeHI, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, is the designated state agency for promoting Health IT innovation, technology and competitiveness to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of health care across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
MeHI was created by legislation in Chapter 305 of the Acts of 2008 and our mission was further extended by Chapter 224 of the Acts of 2012.
What we do
MeHI assists healthcare providers and organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the adoption and effective use of Health IT and other electronic Health (eHealth) technologies.
We gain insight into the needs and requirements of the healthcare community through surveys, stakeholder meetings and outreach. We use the information and our expertise to develop and provide programs and support.
As a quasi-state entity, MeHI is in a position to uniquely and independently:
- Coordinate eHealth technology innovation and competitiveness
- Accelerate the adoption of Health Information Technologies
- Advance the effective use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in all provider settings
- Promote eHealth to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of healthcare
